Day 3 – More Updates and Playoffs Get Rolling

As the weekend goes by players, parents, coaches, and fans alike get a little tired from hustling hard during games along with early mornings and late nights at the rink but somehow once playoffs roll around everyone shifts into overdrive and finds a little bit extra in the tank.

The mite division kick-started the jam-packed day of action, playing the first games of the day. Most mite teams played a single game yesterday and got started again early this morning. As mentioned in yesterdays’ mid-day update the Delta River Rats defeated the Hockey House Army 9-1. They continued through their next two games defeating their opponents 8-0 and 6-2. Reebok Jr. Ducks Orange also mercied their opponents in their first game, by a score of 8-0, but were unable to bury as many goals when matched up against the River Rats. At this point in the tourney it may be safe to say the Delta River Rats appear to be the team to beat.

The RV Mustangs 01 and KIHA Warriors defeated their opponents in the squirt silver semifinals and were then matched up for the championship game. The KIHA Warriors brought unparalleled speed to the game and were able to defeat the Mustangs with a final score of 4-1. In the squirt gold semifinals both the Hockey House Army and HB Mission Militia 11th Battalion out played their opponents earning shut outs along the way (4-0 and 7-0). The teams matched up and in a down to the wire game the Militia couldn’t put the puck in the back of the net and were ousted by a final score of 2-0 Hockey House Army. The Hockey House Army was led to victory by long-time NARCh Pro Player, coach Kirk French and the sweet victory made their traveling all that much more worth it.

The atom division sure lit up the scoreboard this morning in some high-scoring, fast-paced games. Anarchy defeated the Silver Creek Spiders  and the Rockets took out the Silver Creek Spiders, both in convincing  fashion. In another snipe show the San Jose Inline Sharks took down the KIHA Warriors  in a real offensive showcase.  Plenty of highlight goals in all of these games, perhaps some will make it to the much anticipated Day 3 videos!

With the second of two NARCh Pro semifinal games underway the bleachers are packed and fans are loud. The Breakaway Bullies went up 1-0 quickly after the puck dropped against the Pama Cyclones. In a game packed with penalty kills and power plays the score ended 3-3 at the end of regulation. Taking no delay to end the game, the Breakaway Bullies scored, paving their way to the championship game scheduled for 6:30PM tonight. Alkali RPD was matched up against the Tour Mudcats for the second semi final. In a back and forth game with outstanding goaltending from each net-minder, the teams ended regulation tied up 2-2. Once the puck dropped for the overtime period Alkali gained control of the puck and raced down the rink creating a couple good scoring opportunities. After controlling the puck for a few minutes and cycling up and down the rink Alkali RPD’s Travis Noe beat a guy to the outside, cut hard to the middle, and scored high-glove (netting his third of the game) to end it and get their team to the championship game.

With more midget, junior, and women’s prelim games and men’s playoffs – along with the Pro Championship game – there’s still plenty of action to come. The rinks packed, the atmosphere’s great, and there’s enough good hockey to keep any fan happy.
