Final Thursday at The Finals

Exciting Final Thursday in San Jose

By Alex Morrison

Today brings a lot of activity to the SportsPlex.  Pee Wee Platinum has just finished up their pool play, and has been seeded for the playoffs.  As I was walking by rink 3 earlier this afternoon, right at the end of the Anarchy vs Mississauga Rattlers game, there was a close play down in the Anarchy defensive zone, and right at the buzzer, a shot on goal.  The buzzer sounded just before the puck entered the net, preserving the tie.  What I didn’t know at that point was that this game was going to determine who was in the playoffs and who was out.  The Rattlers needed the win to get in, as Anarchy had scored one more goal in their games, and both teams had given up the same amount.

The Pro games this morning were good, and I was surprised to see the showing by the Tour Roadrunners in their match against the Tour Mudcats.  They had the lead for a bit, but a gorgeous one-timer by Jami Yoder gave the Mudcats the win.  Alkali RPD and the Pama Cyclones played to a 2-2 tie in probably the best overall game of the morning set.

In the Bantam semis, Black Ice was upset this morning by Alkali CA, so the final will have them against Coast2Coast.

The Squirt Platinum Final is going on right now, as a great Revision Vanquish team tries to beat an even better Wheels of Anarchy team in a rematch of the 5-1 Anarchy win from yesterday.  I’m going to get out there to see what happens.  Bye for now!
