First Champions Crowned in Detroit

It doesn’t matter if it’s 1:00am or 7:00am here at Joe Dumar’s Field House. The hockey is intense at any hour. The Mites have wrapped up round robin play, and the Tour Bordercat’s have taken the first place seed, with the RBK 01 Michigan team right behind them finishing second.  RBK would beat the Detroit Mission Stars in the semi finals to advance into the Championship and force the rematch that the Bordercat’s won by a score of one to zero.

In the Championship the Bordercat’s took a two to zero lead and that’s how it would end in the first period. Evan Gietzen would add a third goal in the beginning of the second and it would stay that way until the eight minute mark and Adam Beauvais would get RBK on the board. Four minutes later Dominic Yee would get RBK with in one but they could not get anything past Bordercat’s goalie Joey Henson and would fall by a final of four to two.

The Pee Wee division has just finished up their round robin play with the Mississauga Rattlers going undefeated. The honey Baked Rolling Hogs and LSW are tied for second.

The other divisions are about half way through play and the level of hockey is incredible. I hope to have a ton of video highlights at the end of the day, which should make a great highlight video.
