Saturday Update from Silver Creek Sportsplex

San Jose Regional Qualifier – March 31st

We’re 14 hours into the tournament and today has flown by so far!  We just had our cub and atom championships, so we’re already in medal mode.

In cubs the Silicon Valley Quakes took care of the Delta River Rats in the gold championship and for the Ripon Red Tails came from behind to defeat the Spongebobs 2-1 in OT for the silver division championship.  The NARCh Bear made an appearance and put some extra big smiles on faces.

For the atoms the Delta River Rats defeated the Silicon Valley Quakes for gold, and the Ripon Savage defeated the San Jose Tsunami for the silver title.

While the little guys are done already there’s a few divisions just getting going.  With 91 games in one day we’re running 20 hours, 6am-2am.  I work with a few beauties, but there’s no time for beauty sleep if you work for NARCh.

Squirts are playing now and later tonight, along with bantams, and mens.  We spread it out pretty nicely for those playing multiple divisions.  They have to be here pretty much all day but at least they don’t have to be on two rinks at once, or take their skates off super quick and run the next rink.

There are some new teams here that didn’t compete at Winternationals or play in the Nor Cal Cup.   That’s always a positive sign, as teams sort of come out of the woodwork when the NARCh FINALS are within driving distance.

If you follow NARCh closely you know that we took a road trip this week.  First and foremost to shoot a video and show people many of the things that Cali has to offer.  I’ve heard people in other parts of the country talk about the FINALS in the Cali in the past and after talking at length I realize that some don’t really see much outside of the rink and the city of San Jose.  Big mistake!

I’m not one to turn down a good time so I took the opportunity to travel to some places I haven’t been to in a while and drag along Itan Chavira and Blake Peckham to assist in the video.  Ironically they hadn’t been to many of the places we stopped, even though they’re California Natives.   I get a real joy out of showing people a good time, which I guess is part of the reason I have so much fun running NARCh.

If you took a peek at the pictures on Facebook you can tell it was a great trip and we’re hoping the videos show at least some of the great time that we had and most importantly get teams excited for the NARCh FINALS.  The only negative to the whole trip was a speeding ticket.

If you’re reading this you’ve noticed that we’ve updated our website.  Really excited about the look of it and we hope you are too!

Now back to the action, only 6 hours left tonight!
