We are rolling along here on a Sunday at the 2012 East Coast Winternationals in North Carolina. Kudos to Steve and his staff at the Dreamsports center as the facility has been great in creating a friendly and clean atmosphere for teams and fans.
Besides the West Coast Winternational, this is the first event for most since the 2011 Finals. There is a great deal of momentum heading into this year as everyone came away from a great Florida event pumped up while looking forward to this summer in San Jose. It is always a great time reconnecting with people you haven’t seen in months but yet always feel like old friends.
We still have half of today and Monday on the docket. Tomorrow is “Heavy Medal Monday” with trophies and medals being awarded in 11 divisions. Daryn and Itan have been busy placing cameras all over this place to capture different angles of game action. We even have one up high in the vendor area to get a glimpse of all the foot traffic around the tourney table and Vendor booths. It’s a hoot seeing Daryn and Itan compare shots of who has the better footage. Those two have quite the rivalry going in a game of ‘NARC-H’ and it is carrying over to the action behind the lens.
Many people locally are excited to bring an event of this level to the area. In order to grow the sport it is important to get these regionalized areas on board and competing with national teams. It is our hope that as many teams from here as possible have the means to experience the ultimate event, Narch Finals, in San Jose.
There is great sportsmanship and support this weekend amongst the teams. All the players have been busy catching the action of the competition in their own division, as well as everyone else. The arena erupted earlier today during an Atom game as the Primetime team from North Carolina notched its first goal of the event against the Dragons. Even though they would end up on the short end in this game, everyone exited the floor with huge smiles and a great attitude.
It is stories like this one that keep us all coming back from more!
Stay tuned, the action is heating up down here at Dreamsports!
