Winternationals Breeze into New York

By Jeremy Ellis

One week after football’s big game took over the Big Apple, Roller Hockey’s premier event, NARCh, commenced the East Coast Winternationals on Long Island.  41 teams will lace up their skates looking to take home shiny new medals.  This is the  second event of the 2014 season after the West Coast version in San Jose 3 weeks ago.  Despite the 50 degree difference in weather from San Jose, the action here is still HOT!  The long road to the 2014 Finals in Ft. Myers this summer is just beginning.  Skate Safe in Bethpage is the host for this event.  The rink is looking sharp and their is a definite buzz in the stands.  Skate Safe has an awesome collection of banners throughout the arena dating back through the years of the sport.

Making the trip out to show their support of the sport are both Alkali and Tour Hockey.  The booths are set up with all the new products for the upcoming season so be sure to check them out and say hi to Joe and Brad.  The NARCh staff is rolling deep this weekend with myself, Daryn, Alex, Vic and Lonny all in the house.  It has been a couple of years since we have been to the facility so its good to be back.

Two rinks are up and running with games going until midnight tonight.  Its back to work tomorrow morning bright and early with over 40 games on tap.  Keep checking the NARCh.com website and the facebook page for live scoring, blogs, pictures and highlights.
